Our Staff

Steve - Practice owner & Senior Veterinary Surgeon

Steve was born and bred in South Australia, so much so that he still follows the Adelaide Crows, even though he has lived longer in Victoria. He considers himself lucky, as from the age of 5 years, he was always going to be a Vet. After high school, a Vet degree wasn't on offer in South Australia, so he moved to Victoria to follow his passion, and has lived here ever since. He started out in Bacchus Marsh, then Mansfield, Rowville, Avonsleigh and finally he started his own practice in Beaconsfield. He lives with his beautiful wife, 2 lovely boys, 2 horses, 2 guinea pigs, 3 chooks, 2 dogs and a cat. For some reason he is reluctant to buy a farm!

Alina ~ Veterinary Surgeon

Alina graduated in 2008 with Honours from the University of Melbourne. She then left Melbourne to work in Albury/Wodonga for 2 years in a busy small animal practice, where she got lots of valuable experience. After enjoying regional life she then decided to return to Melbourne to be closer to family and friends. Upon returning in February 2011 she joined the team at Beaconsfield. She is the proud owner of a cat called Midnight. She has a particular interest in small animal internal medicine and is going to undertake further distance education in this area during 2012.

Tarni ~ Veterinary Surgeon

Tarni graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours, as valedictorian, in 2010. Returning to her homeland of Victoria, she started working with us in 2011. With a background in zoology and experience working with small-holder farmers in Vietnam, she has special interests in veterinary public health, the human-animal bond and wildlife. Tarni recently adopted Peter, a stray lop-eared rabbit, much to the delight of her nieces and nephews. Peter is now house-trained and enjoys picnics and hopping about on a lead.

Shanya ~ Practice Manager / Vet Nurse

Shanya has been a vet nurse at the clinic since October 2006, and is also our Practice Manager. After high school, she completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Zoology, then enjoyed a few months of travelling before joining our team. She has a Certificate IV in Vet Nursing and loves meeting all the animals that come into the clinic. She is the proud owner of three cats - Hugo, April and Judy, and also an excitable German Short Haired Pointer named Lenny.

Sarah ~ Senior Vet Nurse

Sarah started working at the BVC back in March 2010. After finishing high school she completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in zoology, whilst working part time at a local boarding kennels. Realising that animal care and knowledge was where her passion lay, she decided to become a vet nurse and has been loving it ever since! She is currently completing her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and when not working she spends her time with her 3 cats; her old man Buddy, and her cheeky two-year olds, Tom and Millie.

Josh ~ Vet Nurse

Josh has been with the clinic since early 2005. During this time he completed Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and was awarded the Bayer Award for Outstanding Customer Advice in 2010. He one day hopes to join a veterinary team at one of the Victorian zoos. Along with his passion for pet care, he enjoys having a friendly chat with you at the reception desk.

Leesa ~ Vet Nurse

Leesa has been working at the Beaconsfield Vet Centre since January 2008. She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2009. Leesa has a passion for surgery and enjoys working with our visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Wing Tip Wong. Her other passion is training her Border Collie 'Storm' with husband Mat. They are training her to compete in agility and obedience. Leesa also owns a cat 'Milo', who she hand reared since a week old.

Sian ~ Vet Nurse

Sian has been working at the clinic since May 2011. Before working with us she was working in the boarding kennels at Animal Aid in Coldstream.
Sian is currently studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is also completing a Certificate in Wildlife Rehabilitation and Husbandry.
Sian has two cats, Mozz and Magic, and two dogs - a boxer named Zac and a Blue Heeler named Jess.

Marnie ~ Veterinary Nurse

Marnie starting working at the clinic as a full time Veterinary Nurse in 2005, she left towards the end of 2006 to have her first child and is currently back working casual hours. She has been nursing for approximately 15 years and takes pleasure in ensuring animals have the happiest stay possible in the clinic whilst under her care. The love of her life (besides her daughter & husband) is her 7 year old Staffy named Jeff and her 4 year old warmblood horse Ochre.
